Situated within the dense urban fabric of TPS 15 Wadaj in Ahmedabad, LokVan draws from the idea of a people’s forest rooted in native trees, local climate, and everyday community life. While several green plots exist within the TP, some remain underdeveloped, and existing parks dominated by lawns and jogging tracks fail to respond to the social needs of the neighborhood, resulting in spaces that remain largely underused. Moving beyond ornamental landscapes, the project imagines softer public spaces shaped through trees, shade, water, and seasonal change- conditions critically needed within dense fabric. Shaded pockets for play, learning, gathering, and pause are woven into water-retaining landscapes, nature-based play areas, and community spaces alongside an Anganwadi. Linked through streets and public edges, these landscapes extend beyond individual parks, forming cooler ecological corridors that connect housing, markets, footpaths, shops, and everyday neighborhood life while supporting biodiversity and seasonal change across the TP.
